When Aganza Kisaka first wrote Killing Time the purpose was a fun challenge for actors, to stretch their ability in switching characters cohesively in order to tell a story. However, it’s themes struck home and that was how the play was born. Killing time is a satire about the pursuit of a good life and happiness. Told from the point of view of two men stuck in a village who are plotting to migrate to the capital city in search of better opportunities. The play is driven by a two-person cast which plays multiple characters, switching between characters and costumes at a fluid pace. While set in Uganda, this play describes a reality that is true for most African countries and even beyond.
