A life committed.
Writers need to support one another. No one can make it alone in this sector. We all need each other; read each other, critique each other, promote each other, work on projects together.
Still We Survive.
“The difference,” she sells us on the argument, “is that great men and women seized opportunities or recognized an essential human problem or need and concentrated on finding a solution to it or were fortunate enough to have talent as well as resources available to them. Sometimes power in all its shades and powerlessness determines our fate.”
Illuminating Theatre.
While Popular theatre or local language based plays are a popular feature in Uganda’s entertainment industry, plays done in English continue to struggle to pull a crowd. This disparity is a residue of colonial times.
A Venture into Truth.
However, she does not let that box her in and strives to write about things that keep her up at night, as truthfully as she can. She believes every writer should write the stories they want to write because there’s enough room and enough readers for all the stories.
Holding True to the Dream.
As a young writer leave your ego behind. Be persistent in the face of adversity. Forget making tons of money. Aim to rise beyond the best there is.
In Pursuit of the Dream(s).
Why go for one thing when you can go for them all? In conversation with her, it seems absurd to have only one dream in a world which allows you to have multiple, chase multiple and achieve most of your dreams.
