Africa was an incandescent scenery, as fresh as cantaloupe,
Whose innate aesthetics, like in utopia, marvelled the globe;
A beaming lantern paradise whose owners lived in bliss
And the voice of the friendly earth was their guide.
Now, rising heat waves from the mouth of the Sahara
The cracking of a hungry fire
Robs Africa of its healing ebony fabric.
Angry waters from the grumbling carnivorous sea
Devour forlorn habitats like the fish that swallowed Jonah.
Africa sleeps on a creaking bed of pains
Caused by the lesions and scabs on its body
In tears, she moans from the gout of promiscuous drought
And her life menaced by the cureless sting of a perilous weather
Howling like a grey wolf, chopping the trees of their lives.
Birthing a biting temperature whose venom leaves vicious ailments
And flings afflicted Africans to the bosom of safety
Action be taken, else Africa becomes an illusion.
