He glides across the room as I silently watch in a corner,
afraid any sound might frighten him.
He has been pacing back and forth -pendulum-like
and I sit and watch, mesmerized.
His demeanour is bold
with a stride that carried the ego of 10 African men.
Yet in this small room, known to a little figure in the dark is the irony of it all.
I wait, still, silent
for his eyes to look my way
just so I can be sure my existence isn’t just an extension of his imagination…
But my desires seem to be only a distant dream.
We were, you see at some point, a landmark to each other;
a vantage point, home.
Yet all he does now is pace back and forth, pendulum-like
and I sit, still in my corner, mesmerized.
My heart is loud…..but his is stone-cold silent.
How can a heart so loud and colourful be captive to one so cold and distant?
Is it not that I am the only witness to this sublime existence?
If this is my fate then I shall fight no more.
My little corner shall stay my solace and until he paces no more:
And I, triumphantly shall be hypnotized no more.
